Jeff Sutherland is a Certified ScrumTrainer and Co-Creator of the Scrum development process. As CEO of Scrum, Inc. powered by OpenView Labs he is coach, mentor, and trainer for OpenView Venture Partners. He has been VP of Engineering and/or CTO for 9 software product companies, developing Scrum in 4 of them and introducing today's standard Scrum methodology to 5 of them. With his venture group he is now rolling out Scrum to over 20 portfolio companies.
In recent years as CTO of PatientKeeper and IDX (now GE Healthcare), he used Scrum to capture industry leadership for mobile/wireless/web application platforms in healthcare, enabling physicians to enhance revenue, reduce cost, and improve patient care. He evolved automated Scrum tools for real-time management reporting, while reducing Scrum project manager overhead to 10 minutes a day and developer administrative overhead to 1 minute a day. This is an order of magnitude more efficient than traditional approaches to project management.
Dr. Sutherland is a worldwide consultant and trainer to Microsoft, Yahoo, Ariba, Adobe, GE, Siemens, Philips, Medtronic, St. Jude Medical, Exigen Services, MySpace, Medco, Oracle, and many other companies bringing advanced Scrum practices to the broader software industry. He specializes in working with hyperproductive teams, helping them understand the "secret sauce" that turns Scrum flexibility and productivity into a disruptive force that allows a company to dominate a market with winning products and services.
